Database Development

A 'database', basically described as an organized collection of information, has very different implications to different market sectors. The term is very loosely applied. Fortunately, ATLIS understands that solutions for managing bibliographic records are not the same as managing information systems for an enterprise. Each has its own conventions, requirements and management objectives.

ATLIS applies its expertise in designing a database at a very high level of understanding. Our long experience with a number of different markets that must render databases as a published product provides a broad understanding of the data management requirements for each market. This extends into all aspects of database development including document and content management, transactional and tracking systems and even restoring or reconfiguring legacy data stores.

Multiple Data Structures

Our developers are qualified to deal with database conversion and normalization, the selection of keys and indexes, data type selection, storage parameters, data loading, unloading and archiving. At the enterprise level we offer architecture-specific design for client-server and distributed databases as well as desktop and text-based structures.

ATLIS conducts database design and implementation via an organized, phased approach. A typical set of analysis steps includes data identification, data clarification and finally data mapping and implementation. Design is accomplished using state of the art modeling tools and methods which result in a comprehensive design based on pre-defined requirements. Finally the data is integrated into the new database after extensive cleansing and normalization.

Effective Information Management

Effective data management results in a secure, accurate, accessible, and understandable set of information stores. When data is managed well, productivity and flexibility are byproducts that are reflected in the company's bottom line. ATLIS follows a practical approach that melds with a client's requirements for practical solutions.
