Litigation Support

The name ATLIS was originally an acronym for AuTomated LItigation Support. Since the 1980s ATLIS has provided litigation support to a wide client base including, most recently, the Department of Justice under the Mega I contract through CACI. We are also a named subcontractor under the new Mega II procurement.

We work closely with our clients to develop a database structure that will provide rapid access to the information they require including case documents, deposition transcripts and other evidentiary information. The various phases of the litigation process combine document records data capture, document imaging, and case and settlement tracking. Types of coding we can supply include catalog, bibliographic and full bibliographic.

Multiple Repositories

ATLIS has maintained a number of databases for our clients with more than 10 million pages contained in close to six million documents. When one of our clients, Ely Lilly, began looking for a more cost effective method for screening a particular litigation document collection and supplying attorneys with document sets for use in witness deposition interviews, we established an internal document repository to handle the preparation and delivery of chronological witness books to the attorneys on demand. We then presented the service to a number of our clients, setting up a number of document repositories that maintained in excess of 15 million pages, stored on microfilm or as digitized electronic images, and linked to searchable databases.

This technology was not limited to litigation support. A number of our clients had regular reporting requirements to provide information to governmental agencies. We maintained electronic databases for these clients capable of collecting, sorting and delivering this information on a regular basis and an "as needed" basis for special reporting requirements.

Modern Tools for New Requirements

With the widespread use of the PC in office environments, our concept of an electronic document repository broadened to the one that exists today. We have worked with smaller law firms, governmental agencies and associations to develop systems of document collection into a central electronic repository with search and retrieval from multiple locations.

Our staff works with clients to develop software applications and tools tailored to specific information processing requirements. The experience that we have had with our mainframe database systems, our experience in document creation in various formats including print and Web (HTML), XML and the transforming of documents between these formats is applied to our client's individual needs.
