Legal

ATLIS has been providing loose-leaf composition and database maintenance services to legal publishers both in the private and public sector since the early 1970s. Legal publishing services, especially in the area known as loose-leaf, requires specific knowledge and skill sets. These include database and release maintenance management, point-paging, copyfitting, creation of filing instructions, and finding aids generation and updating.

Rapid Pagination

ATLIS usually uses its proprietary composition software, CCS, as the typesetting engine for legal publications. CCS is rapid, batch pagination software which has been in existence since the mid-1970s, but has been continuously enhanced to provide additional and improved capabilities. It was originally used to support a client base consisting primarily of Government agencies such as the U.S. Tax Courts, the National Labor Relations Board and the Department of Labor and legal publishers such as the Bureau of National Affairs, Prentice-Hall and Matthew Bender.

Expanding Capabilities

One important capacity of the system is its ability to support loose-leaf publications by allowing the user to automatically generate point-pages and/or alpha pages, and to "copy-fit" text as required to meet fixed pagination needs. In recent years we have added a number of large directory publishers to our client base and have enhanced the system for the needs of that type of product.
