ATLIS Awarded Sole Source Contract
For Library of Congress Subject Headings

May 6, 2003

ATLIS has received notification of contract award from the Government Printing Office to provide electronic services for the 26th Edition of the Library of Congress Subject Headings. ATLIS will be responsible for typesetting and paginating approximately 7,000 pages in five volumes from a single EBCDIC record generated from the on-line MARC catalog records used by the Library of Congress cataloging system.

Unicode/XML Implementation

In addition to interpreting this input stream, ATLIS will analyze and output complex Unicode diacritical marks used by multiple foreign languages including two or more accents above and below the same letter as well as accents that span up to three characters. ATLIS will employ XML as an intermediate coding mechanism as part of the workflow. The composition application will be written using ATLIS's TeX implementation.
